Canadian medical school, want to practice in the US?

I’m starting 3rd year of university this fall at McGill (Quebec, Canada), but I’ve started to think about practicing in the united states. But so far I’ve no clue what I would have to do in order to end up practicing in the states. From what I’ve heard degrees from Canadian and US med schools are equivalent… but to practice in the US, would I have to get residency in the States? What else should I do and be aware of?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I would think you could write a hospital or e-mail one here in the U.S.,& find out.My Mother-In-Law,has a Dr. from Canada. He is at St.Louis University Hospital. In St.Louis,Missouri.Barnes Hospital in St.Louis,is also a teaching hospital.GOOD LUCK!

How much time will it take to heal a wound this deep?

A few months ago, my brother in-law introduced me to "Henry". By the end of that same week, we were enjoying our first date and i knew that i was falling in love. He wanted every second of my time and, before long, started asking me about marriage and building a dream home together…etc. I tried to tame him a little, but he was so eager to try to explain how much he loved me any chance he could. Cloud 9. the cosmos had alligned and i was (still unsure about it) convinced that i’d be with him forever.
Around one month ago, he started a medical practice and acting really busy. i know that he wasn’t as busy as he made it seem. he threw the brake on for three weeks…i was going nuts and finally broke it off with him hoping that he’d talk me out of it and we could figure out what went wrong. nope. no phone calls, no responses to my emails…nil.
i’m devastated. i saw a missed call from his ex on his cell and he played it off as an "old friend from iowa". why wont he tell me?

I know it hurts and that you are very sad…But it sounds to me like he is not ready for a committed relationship…at the beginning he might have but i think when he got the missed call he in a way realized he still wanted to play the field…I’m sorry but he is not the one for you…First of all he tells you a ll kinda great thing and then he startes doing all these things…Think about it he gave you false hope and in the end crashed your hole world he sounds like a real jerk…Look only God know what is going to happen in the future so no one can tell and ‘Henry’ were not meant to be…maby he got cold feet…I hope you get your answer from him because you deserve it…and don’t worry it might not seem like it now the pain will go away…best of luck to u

How many calories are burned after 2 hours of soccer practice?

yeah well I’m not a big eater any more cause our schools budget got cut and they serve the crappiest food now. its prison food and I skip lunches because of that lovely factor.(damn economy) but yes. And sometimes I skip breakfast too because I’m lazy and just do not want to get out of bed to eat. Sleep is muuuuch more importante. But soccer, oh my god i love it. I’m not lazy when it comes to this. I just love it. But you see my doctor started flipping out on me lately and was all like,
"Hey you gotta eat. You gotta eat or I’ll have to talk to your coach and have him pull you off the team." but i was like,
"Nooooo. you can’t do that!"
so just for the record, how many calories does a regular 14 year old girl burn at soccer? And its 2 hours per practice. Thanks bunches.

720 calories burned. 3,419 brain cells killed.

Is it legal for a medical practice to refuse to allow a patient to change doctors?

The rheumatology practice of the University of Rochester, NY as part of its policy refuses to allow a patient a choice of doctors in its practice. Is this legal? Note it is not an insurance issue – it is the practice that is doing this. There is a shortage of rheumatologists in the area. Other specialist practices in the area seem to allow this.

Legal yes, ethical probably not!

How to Find the Medical Equipment That You Need

Whether you are a hospital administrator needing to equip your new medical facility or you are a wife who needs a machine so that her husband can receive in-home treatment, you are in the market for a piece of medical equipment. Regardless of your particular situation, it is important to find the equipment and the machines that you need in a timely fashion!  Since these machines are essential to any medical practice and used very often, you need to find ones that are durable, easy to fix, and affordable. There are so many different machines out there in addition to a huge variety of medical equipment brands, that it is very difficult for you to find the ones that are the best for you. This reason is why you should contact medical equipment suppliers!

Knowledgeable suppliers act as a liaison between manufacturers and customers. Many of them are retailers but it does not make sense for them to set up a brick and mortars store in a particular town because people never need to browse for medical equipment. Instead, they have special business relationships with multiple manufacturers and know each company’s inventory of each inside out. Whether you need just one used EKG machine or several, they will know from whom you should order so that you receive the equipment that your facility needs at the best prices available.

In order to find trustworthy medical equipment suppliers, you need to talk to other medical facility administrators in your area. Ask them from whom they purchased their equipment and supplies. Make sure that you research whomever they recommend regardless of how well you trust this source. Some suppliers might be great for medical machines but not have any special deals for medical equipment. In order to save your clinic the most money over the years, you should try to find the right suppliers as early on as possible!

A great source of hospital medical equipment suppliers is the internet. Check out a few online sites and directories in order to find great deals on the equipment that you need. The advantage of an online equipment supplier is that they can ship their goods anywhere, often free of charge. Start researching your new medical machines online now!

Keeping Your Dental Practice Profitable in 2009

The current economic situation has created many businesses challenges. Dental practices will need to respond in various ways to encourage consumers to make dentistry a higher priority. Consumers will only delay longer without ongoing reminders. Additionally, current patients need a higher level of communication and stronger referral skills.

While regular preventive dental visits can be delayed without a short-term downside, significant health problems and personal reasons will not wait for an economic recovery. When emergencies arise and toothaches occur, your dental office should have a public presence to keep your patient numbers on a growth trajectory. Dentists who offer high value services such as Invisalign braces, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and smile makeovers should make sure they are the ones these patients will know of when they start looking. Sedation dental marketing is also a way to move consumers who have put off dental treatment because of fear to get the care they need now.

Take these steps to keep your dental office profitable in 2009.

The Best Dental Marketing Plan has THREE Elements

> ONE: Be A Publicly, Proactive, Persistent Dental Practice

  • Helps you grab the attention of patients and consumers who are not considering dentistry right now
  • One of the biggest areas of new dental patient development
  • Usually includes a traditional dentistry marketing element or format
  • People need to be made aware of your cosmetic and restorative expertise and services
  • While public marketing is not cheap, done right, dentists can bring in new blood fast
  • Waiting for referrals, or consumers to think about or searchers is risky in a downturn

> TWO: Completely Cover Your Current Dental Patients Angle

  • Patients want others to know about you if you do things well
  • This is hardly ever done well – it is often generic, impersonal, and infrequent
  • Referrals and smile makeover case acceptance result from effectively communicating value
  • Find more ways to connect with dental patients and more formats to ask for referrals
  • Where you communicate now – add elements that say so meth ing new about you
  • Referrals still make great patients, but the new landscape requires new methods
  • Use dental technology to better inform patient of your services and expertise

> THREE: Network Your Internet Connection: Dental Website

  • The Web is where your patients, and consumers are, and will be looking for you
  • There are a thou sand ways to attract new dental care patients online: spread your wins
  • Internet evasion will shrink your community influence, referral power, expertise value
  • Remember most of your competition is doing one thing, if any, and often haphazardly
  • Keep adding to your online dental marketing repertoire, weaving in your highest value services

Downturn Dental Marketing Conclusion

Assertive and persistent public and internal communication is essential for your dental practice to be viable today and long term.
