How does a patient resign from a medical practice/doctor before finding another ?

I have has a misunderstanding with my Doctor, nothing serious but I wish to leave the practice and find another . How do I do this?

It is unfortunate but these things happen and you are within your rights to transfer to a different medical provider,if you have any problems contact you local C.A.B.

  • You have no obligation to do anything. Just find a new doctor and have that doctor’s office request your records from the previous doctor.

You may be confusing the duty the Dr would have if he fired you as a patient. If a doctor refuses to treat a specific patient, then that doctor has an obligation to the patient to make sure the patient is doing okay.

For example, a friend of mine who is a doctor was robbed by an employee who was also a patient. He sent her a letter telling her this and recommending that she contact another doctor to treat her and he gave her several names of doctors.

But, as a patient – you have no duty.References :
