I am looking into opening a small medical billing office, with the intention of getting certified in the next 6 months, but I need to start studying for it now. I was hoping someone would be willing to point me in the right direction, there are so many coding books available. I just want the best one for me… something that provides good information in an organized manner, along with opportunities to practice as I go. Any ideas? helpful tips on what to look for? I have been taking medical terminology classes and other classes related to Medical Billing but feel that if I had a book in front of me I would feel more comfortable about it. Thank you!
Laureen Jandroep’s CPC training course ( http://cpcexam.ellsed.com ) is the best around for what you need. It covers both medical billing and coding.
While its main objective is to prepare you for the AAPC’s Certified Professional Coder exam (which is one of your objectives) I’ve found it a one-stop comprehensive resource for ICD-9 CM procedures, actual practice tests and subject video lessons.
